How early might a baby start making strange?

My son will be 4 months old next week. For the past 2 or 3 weeks he won't go to anyone except me or my husband, and the first week he wouldn't even go to him. And it's not just being held, a "stranger" can just look at him and he starts to cry. He even does this with my parents now, who he sees at least 2 or 3 times a week. He is fine when we are home alone, he'll play in his bouncy chair happily or interact with me or my husband. But if someone else comes into our home and tries to play with him or especially if we go somewhere else for a visit he will only sit with me or his dad and maybe he'll play by himself very close to us. Everyone is telling me it's way too early for him to be making strange, but what else could it be? He hasn't had any developmental problems so far, eating, sleeping, and growing well. Generally a happy baby just seems to dislike everyone else! Has anyone else experienced this so soon?

yes babies do go through this, That's apart of my son's pediatricians Milestones" Your son is hitting it early though so it could last a little longer but My son hit his stranger anxiety around 5 months old and it lasted for about a month. I think it helped me getting him more use to stranger, *Getting him out more* Taking him for strolls in the mall around all the people... But nothing to worry about he will get out of it. I highly highly doubt its a developmental issue because all babies do things at different paces" so Do not worry!!! I remember when My son did this I was worried like you but once I explained to his pediatrician he said my son was hitting that stage early so when they hit it early that it would last a little longer then it usually does and he said its something he expects as an actual milestone. So its COMPLETELY Normal :)

3 month old seems to be Making strange!?

My son is almost 12 weeks old.
I am lucky that my parents are very involved in his life and watch him 1/2 a day a week at our house, so I can get out and do groceries, or shop or sleep or whatever I would like.
However it almost seems like he is starting to make strange with them and my husband.
He seems to be fine so long as he can see me and knows that I am around. My mom says that often after I leave he suddenly looks at her like "omg who are you" and then starts to fuss. She says he cries like his little heart is broken, and I have noticed that when I come home as long as he can see me is ok for a bit, but then wants to be with me.
I am seeing the same trend with my husband as well.
I understand that I am his primary care giver and the food supply, although I do pump and let others bottle feed him.
Any suggestions on how I can make the transition easier for him and he is more comfortable with my folks and hubby?

Well my daughter used to do that. His pediatrician at the time told me up front: it is right now (when she was 2 month old) that your daughter recognizes your voice, seeing you clearly with her eyes and understanding since birth "hey, that's my mother's smell". You are not doing anything wrong !
Babies are very good in "manipulating" your needs ! I had no other choice than to leave her sometimes in the care of her loving father and she eventually, at 5 or 6 month of age, outgrew that stage ! Give him some time and do not think, he is "hurting" in some sort of sick way !!
