PCOS Pregnancy???

TTC for #1

Back in November 2007 I was diagnosed with PCOS. My fiance and I have been trying for a child and we really want one badly lol. I am currently taking Metphormin 1000MG twice a day. I was wondering if any women out there that has PCOS and has become pregnant had any advice or any tips they done that could help me out!! (Besides having sex..that one is common sense!!)

I have pcos and was not able to get pregnant naturally. I went on metformin and it didn't work either. Then I went onto CLomid and was pregnant first time. That was 3 yrs ago and am now on my 6th month of clomid and nothing, its so tough.
My suggestion would be to buy an ovulation kit, it will help pin point ovulation as it is difficult to tell with girls who have pcos. My other suggestion is to lay off carbs, for some reason they can interfere with trying to conceive. i have been told numerous times not to stress just let it happen but that is so much easier said than done.
I wish you all the luck in the world, this is such an emotional roller coaster. But it is possible!!

There is so much you can start with. First go to fertilityfriend.com and learn how to chart your basal body temperature. This will give you a lot of insight on if you are even ovulating. Also it will give you somewhere to start if or when you have to go to an Ob/Gyn for fertility.

I have to be honest. I have never had luck with natural remedies. Maybe you will but if you are wanting to get pregnant in the near future I would skip natural.

My doctor put me on 2000mg of Metformin to help my insulin to work correctly. I also went on prenatal vitamins right away. Try eating as healthy as you can and lose any extra weight that you need to without starving yourself. Since I have never in my life had a period on my on I had to go on Provera to have a period. Then I went on 50mg of Clomid. I have gotten pregnant 6 times and each of those was within two months but one of them.

How long will it take to get pregnant with PCOS using fetility medications?

I have PCOS and Endometriosis and I'm looking to hear from others with the same conditions who used the same treatments. I'm currently on 100mg of Clomid and 1500mg of Metformin. Also because I know aga is a factor in these things I'm in my early twenties.

Does or did anyone with similar circumstances get pregnant? How long did it take? Any advice, tips, or insight you can give me? Please let me know.

I have PCOS and I was told by a fertility specialist that I have less then a 1% chance of conceiving naturally. I was given Clomid and another drug for ovulation, I only took Clomid one time and not the other one because it had really bad side effects I was not comfortable with. We decided we would try naturally and if nothing happened then we would go back on the treatment. The fertility specialist said that about 90% of his patients conceive within six months of the treatment though. It took a year but we finally conceive our son and I am 33 weeks pregnant. We've been trying for a long time but can't get pregnant. Any tips for getting pregnant would be great. We haven't taken any infertility treatments. We want to get pregnant naturally.

I wish there was such a simple answer to that question. There are so many things you need to consider.
1. It could be a male problem
2. It could be a female problem
3. May be there is no problem
4. You're simply not 'doing it' at time of ovulation
5. Do you have periods/ovulation regularly?
6. Do you smoke/ alcohol/ over weight/ etc etc.
7. Do you have any medical condition like PCOS, endometriosis etc etc?

See how complicated it can get? Anyway something that I have recently seen people talking about a lot is Chinese medicine for infertility. There are many people that say some changes in the life style can simply get you pregnant.
Apparently there are many people that managed to get pregnant in spite of being told that they were 'infertile' by doctors of western medicine and then years later managed to get pregnant after a few changes in life style like a few small dietery changes etc.

How much harder is it to get pregnant when you have irregular period?

I skip months at a time..I was taking birth control to regulate it but then I got off it and my period went right back to being irregular. Do you think I'll have a difficult time getting pregnant?

I'm not trying to conceive yet btw but I'm just wondering if you have any tips or what your opinions are. Thanks!

In my experience - extremely hard. I saw a spacialist and underwent various forms of fertility treatments and it took 4 years with my first (i do not have pcos, am not overweight, premenopausal or have any known condition).

I did however fall pregnant naturally and have a 2 year old son. I have been trying for 6 months with number 2 but have only had 2 or 3 periods in this time.

My advice is to start tracking everything well in advance so you might get a better idea of when you are ovulating when you do start trying.

I also bought the maybe baby ovulation tester but it doesnt seem to be doing me any good.

Good luck - i dont mean to scare you but it has certainly not been easy for me and i too have always had irregular cycles unless i was on the pill.

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2 months ago and just had my first ultrasound. I've been married for almost 2 years and and while we aren't wanting to start a family just yet, I was wondering if anyone else diagnosed with PCOS has been able to concieve, and if so, how long did it take before you were able to conceive? Also, if anyone has an tips on how to manage/deal I would really appreciate it!

The great news is that you discovered this before you are ready to get pregnant. Once I found out, I got off birth control and figured if it happened naturally, then it would be a blessing (even though we weren't quite ready). I was off the pill for almost two years and maybe had 2-3 periods in that time. Once we decided we were ready in Feb 06, my endocrinologist prescribed Metformin (glucophage). I immediately started ovulating and became pregnant in Jun 06. I now have a 6 month old baby girl. It doesn't happen that easy for everyone, but the possibility is there! My recommendation is to get in shape, even if you're only 5 lbs overweight (which was my case). I would also allow a lot of time for trying before you are officially 'ready.' We weren't antsy those first months on Metformin- we expected a long wait and wanted to start charting to see how my body was reacting to the medication. I think the lack of stress contributed to our success. Good luck! And lots of baby dust when the time is right! :)
