I am just wondering what everybody else thinks is most successful when trying to conceive? What can i be doing to improve my chances? Other than just timing it correctly

My husband and I would like to have a baby. Are there any good "getting pregnant" tips you ladies can give me? We are using preseed and we have been having sex almost every day. just took my last depo shot in november is there any vitamins or pills that i can take to get pregnant faster?

Not saying that will take you that long. But when you get off the shot you usually become pregnant between 4 months to a year.

ok kids, i read this article in a mag. that said to shave with baby oil. Well to make a long story short, i have dry skin and decided to put it all over my body (cause of u know it's sopposta be moisturizing) then i washed it off, dried, and got dressed without washing my skin with soap, is this bad for me?

Baby Oil can be left on. If soap is drying you out try body washes with no soap. Dove products are a great place to start.

Can you get pregnant before your period?

I had sex on a Saturday. I had my period Monday. It came early because it usually comes on Wednesday. I take birth control and I have been missing some so I would double up the next day or I would take it later than I should. Could I be pregnant? I am now feeling bloated and constipated. Technically you can get pregnant before you period and after your period. You should normally ovulate 14 days into your cycle. Cycle day one is the first day of your period. For those who say you can get pregnant anytime of the month is wrong. You only ovulate generallyonce and when you do, you only have a 24 to 36 hour period for the egg to get fertilized. I seriously doubt you are pregnant if you got your period. Also on your bc. don't double up. Take them at the same time everyday. Put them somewhere where you can remember them. Like for example beside your toothbrush. If you brush your teeth everyday then you will remember to take them. Good luck.

Baby bird shivering and making clicking noises when it breathes.?

So I found two baby birds out of there nest and try to fly but can't yet but keep jumping out and I have animals around and I was afraid they were going to kill them so I'm taking care of them. One of the birds is less developed. It still has its baby fluff/feathers and some spots are bare. It's making a little clicking noise when it breathes and it shivers a lot. I'm afraid it might die. But im wondering why it's making the clicking sound when it breathes. I think it's shivering because it's cold or scared. Please help?

PUT IT BACK SO THAT IT'S PARENTS CAN FEED IT AND TEACH IT HOW TO FLY. If animals do eat it, that is the circle of life. MOM AND DAD bird feed the babies. It will die without proper feeding, and if you try to feed it incorrectly, you CAN DROWN IT. Put it back.

Dryer making noise...?

My wife and I are buying our first home.

We went for a walk through and to show it off to our folks, and figured we would check things out. We ran the dryer and it made a thumping noise. It gets hot and seemingly spins fine, it is just loud.

When it stopped, it thumped louder and sounded as if the breaks were not working (that is the only way I know how to describe it). I asked the Realtor, he said it was lint build up or possibly worn bearing and it is not a big issue and it is an easy fix.

Well, I don't believe anybody trying to sell me something.

Anybody have an idea?

I placed my jacket in the dryer to ensure it was getting warm. It did.

Someone is lying to you about lint being the cause of the thumping noise. It can plug up the vent, especially at the outside vent if that has a grid to keep small animals out, and if it gets thick, the dryer won't dry clothes. But it won't make any noise.

You didn't say if you opened the dryer door to make sure nothing was inside. We typically use some baby shoes to fluff up down-filled items we dry.

Assuming that the dryer was empty, the thumping sound could be something as simple as the rollers that the drum rests on. I believe it would get louder just before the drum stops turning when you shut it off.

These rollers are replaceable, and a good DIY'er can replace them. It requires removing the front panel (and probably pivoting the top back to get the front off--pull forward on the top sharply and then up) to get to the rollers. While you're inside, inspect the drive belt and replace if needed since it's easy to do while you have the front panel removed. Make a diagram of the belt and how it is routed. If the idler roller also seems to be in bad shape, replace that also.

If you're concerned about parts cost, get the model and serial number and make some calls or check online for the price of replacement parts. For now, just figure the rollers are all that needs replacement. If you're not handy, call a repairman, explain the situation, and get a rough estimate. Tell him (or her) that you won't hold them to the estimate since they didn't inspect the dryer, but that you're just trying to see if it is enough to be concerned about when buying the house.

This would be a good time to clean the lint out. You can get one of those long lint brushes wherever you can buy "as seen on TV" items, like Walgreens.

Also consider what the worst case scenario is. If you really like the house, would having to buy a dryer break the bank? You can get them used on Craigslist and sometimes even for free on a Freecycle list in your area. Newspapers always have good used ones for sale for $25 to $100 and even higher, depending on what features it has and how new it is.

People buy new dryers when they don't really need them, just to have a newer one. People are losing their homes and selling off their possessions before the move out. It won't cost a lot to replace the dryer if it's not worth repairing. You can find one if you look.

Best wishes on the house if it's what you really want. Just like marriage, it's best to accept things as they are and not dream of changing things, but at least with a house, you actually can change them, if it's really worth doing so. But when you make changes, don't expect to recoup everything you've invested.

Is There a site to make a free baby time capsule?

My mom made each of us kids a "time capsule" for the day of your birth. I want to make one for my daughter. The website she used was http://dmarie.com/timecap/ . It is completely free which was nice. the last shots my baby had were 6 month shots and is now 13 months. we moved and my husband started new job and will have insurance in a few weeks. someone said they need shots at 12 months and someone said 12,15,and 18 months. i have two teenage children also and if i remember correctly after 6 month shoths it was then at 15-18 months.do you think its ok to wait afew more weeks or should i go to the doctor without insurance and also i applied for some insurance for our baby through the state but they said my husband makes to much, i just wanted some insurance incase of emergency until we get ours

Why is my 6 month old making strange noises?

My daughter is 6 months old and for the past few days she is making a most bizarre sound. Its like she is trying to scream or shout but no noise comes out kind of like when you shout but have lost your voice like a goose or whatever bird makes that strange noise.

she is smiling and making her other normal noises, just wondering if any other mothers have experienced this?

is this just a new noise she has discovered or do you think it could be a sore throat or something?

My 6 month old does the same thing! It's like she is trying to let out one of her loud, happy squeals, but no sound comes out! My doctor said it's totally normal as long as she is still making other noises. Good luck and congrats on your baby girl!

Have they checked her for Sandifer's Syndrome... They thought my daughter might have had this because she had a really bad reflux problem and made very very similar noises to the noise your daughter is making in the video but other than the noise my daughter didn't show any signs... Though other signs are stiffing up of the body and eyes rolling.. This is commonly mistaken for a seizure but its really not.. I would DEF ask your daughters doctor if this is a possibility!

My baby won't brestfeed anymore .?

Hi , my 8 month old was sick for 3 days with fever and for 3 days he did not like the brest milk anymore i was trying (forcing ) him sometimes but he and up throwing up every time i offer him food or milk and he never drink formula accept a little bit that i mix him with baby cereal i am afraid maybe he don't like to breastfeed anymore and it's early he is only 8 months old. I took him to doctor also the doc said is something viral that was causing the fever and to give water to keep him hydrated I don't know what to do I'm so desperate every time he refuses to breastfeed he is only 20 pounds is this to skinny for 8 months? please help if anybody has had the same with their baby, ( thanks)

He is not too skinny. :) Here is an article about sick babies and nursing strikes. You definitely do not ( and probably should) not wean or switch to bottles.

"Baby refuses to nurse when sick:

Some babies may refuse to nurse when sick (particularly if something like a sore throat or pressure from an ear infection makes nursing painful for baby). If this happens, try different nursing positions - particularly those where baby is upright - and keep offering to nurse at least every hour or so. See also: What to do about a nursing strike. Rest assured that your baby will return to nursing when he feels better. Here are some things to try if baby is too uncomfortable to nurse:

feed baby expressed milk from a cup, dropper, spoon or syringe

Vomiting and Diarrhea

Diarrhea in a breastfed baby is diagnosed when a baby has 12-16 stools per day (or more often than the baby's regular stool frequency), watery stools, and an offensive odor to the stools. Just one of these symptoms does not in itself mean the baby has diarrhea.

The current recommendations when vomiting or diarrhea is present in the breastfed child are as follows:

Breastfeeding should be the FIRST choice if your child can take anything by mouth. Because of the ease and rapidity with which breastmilk is digested, even if your child vomits or stools shortly after nursing, he will still have retained some of the nutrients. Other foods that are often suggested (such as Pedialyte, sports drinks, gelatins and sodas) offer little nutritional value and none of the antibodies that human milk contains.

When your breastfed child is ill you'll want to offer more frequent feedings -- this can limit the volume taken in at one time and helps to comfort and soothe a sick child. If your child is vomiting often and not keeping the milk down for long, it may be helpful to breastfeed frequently but limit the length of each nursing session (so your child takes in less milk at once). Another option is for Mom to express some milk before breastfeeding so that the milk flow is slower. RARELY does the baby who is allowed to breastfeed at will during a vomiting or diarrhea illness become dehydrated.
The use of an oral rehydration therapy such as Pedialyte is a sound recommendation for a formula-fed infant who is vomiting or who has diarrhea, but using this in place of breastmilk offers no benefit to the breastfed baby. Human milk is a natural fluid, unlike formula and other milk products, that again is easily and rapidly digested.

Forego the Pedialyte as long as baby continues to nurse well and as long as there are no signs of dehydration. If baby is showing signs of dehydration, talk to your doctor. Following are signs of dehydration:

fewer than 2 wet diapers in a 24-hour period
baby not behaving normally (more irritable, less active, sleeping more)
lethargy
listlessness
weak cry
no tears (in an infant older than 3 months)
dry mouth
skin that stays wrinkly-looking when pinched (pull up the skin on the front of the hand; it should pop easily back into place - not stay pinched or wrinkly-looking)
eyes that look sunken
cool, clammy extremities, especially the fingers and toes
fast breathing, or a heart that is beating faster than usual

Babies who are allowed to continue breastfeeding through an illness such as this are less likely to become dehydrated than those who are taken off the breast. Continued nursing also provides your child with precious antibodies that will prevent the illness from worsening and speed healing. Nursing is also very comforting to your child, which is healing in itself.

Breastfed babies sometimes need oral rehydration therapy (Pedialyte, etc), though far less often than artificially fed infants. The World Health Organization recommends continuing to breastfeed during and after oral rehydration therapy. Research shows that babies lose more weight and actually have more stools during diarrhea when they are deprived of breastmilk.

Sometimes moms are recommended to withhold breastmilk "because it is a dairy product." Breastmilk is NOT considered a dairy or milk product (mom is not a cow!). "

My son has had diarrhea for four days, the first and second day was pretty bad but its gotten better since yesterday. I've been giving him electrolytes but his diarrhea hasn't completely stopped and he isn't eating much besides the electrolytes. He's been chewing on his fingers a lot and its been in the triple digits in my town. Can he be dehydrated or can it maybe be that he's teething?? There's been no fever but he's having a hard time sleeping. His dr's not open and I'm not sure if I should take him to the emergency room. Should I stop giving him the bottle all together and just giv him the pedialyte? Anyone have n e suggestions or advise????
My son's three months but will be four monts on july 4th. I'm not sure @ what age baby usually teeth.

Alright I should be alittle helpful (I hope)
Try and make it as short and sweet as possible.

When my son was just about to turn 7 months he got his first stomach bug. ( I work at Daycare ) and there was a huge bug going around (diarrhea bug) My son got it, was having BM's at least 7 a day sometimes more than once a hour, even if he passed gas it was squirt (sorry) It got so bad that every time it went all the way up his neck we were changing clothes and bed sheets every hour. BUT he seemed fine, he was still eating happy ect so I wasn't worried to much about him getting dehydrated because he was still consuming liquid. After about 5 days of that is got ALITTLE better and a vomiting started. VERY BAD. Constantly coming out his nose and mouth, he would SCREAM. One day he ate only 7 oz ALL day and every time he consumed ANY amount of liquid 3 minutes later it would come RIGHT out. Eventually one night I called 911, at 11:30 pm he wouldn't stop vomiting and his head went back and eyes rolled back and started choking.

MAKE SURE he has wet diapers.
Keep giving him the pedialite if you feel he is pooping out more than he is taking in.
Check the inside of his mouth to make sure its still wet/moist.
I was recommend the B.R.A.T diet but your son is to little (banana/rice/apple/toast)
Our pediatrician told us when it was really bad to instead of offering the pedialite with half water to put 1/3 of his bottle pedialite (make formula/breast milk (if offering bottle at all) and add in 1/3 pedialite straight to the bottle)
Hopefully it just rides itself out.

Teething can start at all different times. My son cut his first tooth the week he turned 6 months which is average

Well that would be considered murder and your "mom" should have her 15 year old on birth control since your having sex so soon! Give the baby/babies up for adoption someone can actually love and take care of them! So in the long run your doing something great, your giving a child to someone who really wants one! Birth Control and Twins?

Does getting pregnant right after you get off BC pills increase the chance of having twins. I have heard this once before and I was told it depends on the time of your cycle and when you got off the pills.

Actually, it has been studied by Harvard University . . . and it "may" be true that there is an increase in twins when getting pregnant while on the pill or shortly after getting off the pill. It all has to do with hormones. The pill is a hormone and by messing with the hormones, there is the risk for hyper-stimulation of the ovaries leading to more than one egg being released during ovulation . . . and fraternal twins. The pill suppresses ovulation and when you suddenly stop taking them, many women find themselves even more fertile and end up releasing multiple eggs as the natural cycle gets kick-started again.

I don't believe that it is a dramatic increase . . . but it is there!

In some cases, as when nature needs a boost, a little push from you and your partner can go a long way in getting pregnant. When it comes to the best position to get pregnant, the general rule is that the male sperm must be deposited as near to the female cervix as possible.


This has something to do with the life spans of the female egg and the male sperm. Once an egg is released from the ovary - a stage also known as ovulation - it begins its path down the fallopian tube to the uterus. A released egg typically survives for only 24 hours, while a sperm can last anywhere from three to five days in the female body. As such, the egg has to be as close to the egg as possible so they can meet and join before the egg dies.

While not a lot of people will agree that the sexual positions have anything to do with getting pregnant, the logical inference is that it makes sense to assume the position that can help the sperm meet the egg in the shortest possible time.

This is especially true when for couples who have problems or difficulty conceiving. Having said this, the first "best position to get pregnant" tip is to avoid positions that least expose the cervix to the male sperm, and that generally defy gravity such as sex while standing up, sitting down, or with the woman on top. When trying to conceive, it is best to limit the amount of sperm that flows back out of the vagina.

The woman's hips should also be positioned in such a way that the sperm released is kept inside, giving it enough time to swim up to the female cervix.

Consider the following positions instead:

1. The missionary position. Or man-on-top is said to be the position that's best for getting pregnant. This is because this particular position allows for the deepest possible penetration, making it possible for the sperm to get deposited closest to the cervix.

2. Raise the hips. Elevating the hips, which can be done by placing a pillow behind her, can also be helpful because this exposes the female cervix to as much semen as the male can release.

3. Doggy-style. The rear-entry position where the man enters the woman from behind is also a recommended position. In this position, sperm is also deposited closest to the cervix, thereby helping increase the chances of conception.

4. Side-by-side. You can also try having intercourse while lying side by side. This position likewise causes the most exposure of the cervix to the male sperm.

5. Orgasms. Finally, while this has nothing to do with sexual positions, there are also researches that suggest the importance of the female orgasm in conceiving. According to studies, female orgasm leads to contractions that could push sperm up into the cervix. The lesson: have fun while trying to conceive.

The best way to not get pregnant is to no have sex, unless you are the virgin mary. Then you are screwed. (pun)

If you are going to have sex, always use birth control. Even better use two kinds of highly effective birth control. A good way to do this is pick one of the following to use: the patch, the pill, depo, or the implant ones. Then make sure to get it renewed when needed or take your pill at the same time (within two hours) every day. ALso, use condoms. If you want to be extra safe, through in some spermicidal foam or spermicidal lube. Just make sure it is safe to use with the condom and won't cause it to tear. (some will).

If for some reason, you miss a pill/shot/patch or the condom breaks, you can always take Plan B (the morning after pill). This thickens cervical mucus so the sperm have a lot of difficulty swimming to the ovum. I would suggest keeping it around just in case, because it is most effective the sooner you take it. So if you could take it immediately after the unprotected sex, you are best off. It does work somewhat for up to 3 days though.



If you are on a 28 day cycle then you will have your period sometime between days 1-7.
Ovulation takes place generally on day 14, but you are most fertile up to 3 days before and 3 days after.

Sperm can survive in your body 2-4 days which is why ovulation is such a long period of time.

By day 26 the lining has detached after "fading" in days 18-25

Less than 1% of women will get pregnant if using the pill, patch, or depo properly.
Less than 2% will get pregnant if using condoms properly
and the morning after pill is up to %89 effective.

so think of it as a 1% chance of getting pregnant while on birth control. the condom reduces that one percent down to .0004%( this is 2% of 1) if used right. and then 11% chance of that .0004% chance which is .000044%. So if you use them all properly. you should be pretty safe.

I was almost 6 weeks in july and i miscarried. then in october of this year the egg was fertilized but didnt stick resulting into a miscarriage/period. it came on the day beofre my period would have. what kind of treatment would i get to help stay pregnant next time? we arent going to try until december or january. but i would liek to know what the docs might do to help? thank you

Although there's nothing we can do about a follicle that can't pop an egg, miscarriages caused by âluteal phase failure,â â in which the follicles ovulate normally but fail to continue their progesterone production at levels necessary for successful implantation of the fertilized egg and development of the embryo â can be prevented by progesterone treatment. I encounter women with this problem all the time.

At one of my talks, a woman told me she was having difficulty having a baby. She had a four-year-old son, and has been pregnant several times since then, but each pregnancy resulted in an early miscarriage. Repeated early miscarriages are often caused by luteal phase failure. The problem is common and is occurring in younger and younger women, probably because of embryonic exposure to xenobiotics. These women do not have trouble getting pregnant: their problem is getting the embryo to survive and not miscarry.

What should they do? They need to increase and maintain their progesterone levels to the point where they can support their pregnancy, and they can do this by supplementing with progesterone. Normally when an egg is fertilized, this sends chemical messages that cause the follicle to increase its production of progesterone to 30 to 40 mg per day, double or triple what it made during the luteal phase of the monthly cycle when the woman was not pregnant. The level of progesterone increases gradually until well into the third month of pregnancy. By that time, the placenta is well developed and is producing progressively more progesterone within the uterus. By the third trimester (the final three months of the pregnancy) progesterone production reaches 300 to 350 mg per day, more than 20 times higher than normal.

The same amount of time any other breed of dog is pregnant and if you where a responsible breeder and not a BYB you would know the answer to this. I also hope you have at least $2,000 put up encase you need an emergency c-section or to cover any of the other complications that can happen. Oh and to answer your question 63-65 days. (that's a little over two months in case you cant figure that out)
