So without thinking about it, since I knew it would be a while before we could make love again me and my husband had unprotected sex the night before my D&C. Do I have to worry about getting pregnant? Or was everything, even the sperm, removed with the suction D&C?

I went to the hospital On the 5th of October 2013 because I was passing blood clots that were maybe 2 inches long with dark red blood. I was told I have a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) &nd during the ultrasound my baby wasn't able to found. I was 13 weeks &nd 4 days by the time. I was ask if I wanted to check again, to come back in the morning &nd in the paperwork he put Threaten Abortion. I was given medication for the UTI &nd I came the very next day. Same news, but with a helpful doctor this time. He told me I lost my baby &nd put on the paperwork it was a Fetus Demis. I was so heart broken &nd it felt like my whole world crumble. He thought that the baby maybe came out without me noticing since again, it was nowhere in the ultrasound. So I stick to that assumption. The very next day at 11 at the night, my poor baby came out. I only had one ultrasound done (when I first found out I was 2 months &nd 3 days pregnant) I was so broken, but then happy to finally see how big it has gotten. It was already grown; little feet with toes, fingers, mouth, long arms &nd legs.. We actually got to find out the sex of the baby also when I was just holding it; a beautiful baby baby. He resembled so much of his father.. <3 I didn't know what to do with the baby so I took it with me as I went to the hospital. Without no warning they took my baby &nd they checked me. I thought "maybe if they check the cause of death, they will give my son back" Once the lady said it looked like everything was okay &nd nothing seems to be coming out they told me I can NO LONGER get my son back due to the fact he wasn't 20 weeks or up. Me &nd the father argued, cried &nd yelled for a long while at them because I wasn't aware of this at all. We finally got some help &nd the nexts day we were told we can do either a burial or cremation for my son. We thanked them &nd we went to get our son cremated. 5 days later I started cramping horribly, heavy bleeding &nd getting blood clots that are the size of my whole palm. I was getting so much of them &nd I was told I was getting a D&C (which was yesterday; October 10th, 2013). once that was done, I was happy that my bleeding stopped, the cramps stopped &nd the scary, huge blood clots were done. I wasn't informed from my OB since he just did the surgery &nd left on how long do I have to wait to have sex &nd when to try again. Since this was my first pregnancy, I was mind blown about being a mother so young (19 years old) but I got so use to the fact I'm carrying a mini me inside of me <3 We both decided to try again, but we googled everything about this situation &nd everyone's questions are different. &nd I want to say to all the mothers who have lost there child while carrying them or mothers that have had stillborn, I'm deeply deeply sorry </3 :''''(

You need to wait six weeks before engaging in intercourse, and it would be wise to wait a minimum of six months before trying again. From the sound of it you lost quite a bit of blood, and if they don't have any idea of why you miscarried you want to have some solid healing time.
Miscarriages are very common, about one third of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage. There is a very deep sense of loss with it, but socially we don't have funerals for fetus under the time it could exist on its own, generally at five months. That's why you didn't get the body back, its not the usual thing to do.
Frankly, while it wouldn't have changed the outcome, they did a poor job of explaining it to you.
I'm well past that now, but I the past I had several miscarriages, and three live births, one of which died shortly after his birth. Women are so much stronger than we are given credit for.
This has been a very sad and confusing time for you, it never is completely gone, but you learn to live with it. Hopefully in the years to come there will be more children for you, that does make it a little easier.
