How likely am I to get pregnant with twins if both of my grandmas had twins?

So I have noticed a lot of questions about twin pregnancies in here, but no one actually described ,my personal circumstances *lol*
BOTH of my grandmothers had twins, my mom is actually a twin, although her twin died after birth. I think she said she was a fraternal twin. My dad's brothers are definately fraternal twins. My hubby happens to have twins in his family also ( although I know his side shouldn't matter, when it comes to multiples ), so how likely am I to have a twin pregnancy?
Thanks for all the answers so far. I read about the genes passing down from mother to daughter, but I also read that a father can pass the gene down from his mom. Like I said in my family twins run on both sides. My hubby's family doesn't matter, unless we conceive a daughter. I was just wondering if my chances are higher as opposed it just being my mom's mom who has twins. (I hope that made sense *lol*)

Probably a little more likely than "normal" people. Fraternal twins are hereditary through women only--it's the tendency to release more than one egg that makes you more likely to have twins. Identical twins are NOT hereditary.

6 years ago i was pregnant with twins and miscarried at 15 weeks (they were in different sacs so i guess they might have been fraternal twins), me and the father of those twins have since broken up. I am now with someone else and i was wondering, what are the chances of me getting pregnant with twins again by the man i'm with now even though the other twins were from my ex?

If you were pregnant with fraternal twins before, the man had nothing to do with it. Your body released two eggs when ovulating that month, and therefore it could be possible to have it happen again, it's just very unlikely. If the twins were in different sacs but shared a placenta, they could have been identical twins, which neither you or a man had anything to do with. Identical twins are just one of those odd coincidences of nature and again, unlikely to repeat itself.

If you and this new man in your life decide to have kids in the future, you would have probably have the same odds of having multiples as anyone else. What might increase your odds is if you are between the ages of 35 to 45 (they tend to release more eggs for some reason) or use some form of fertility treatment.

Twins are great and if you do have get them again, enjoy it! If you do become pregnant and there is only one baby though, don't be disappointed. Twins are hard and think of how your will be better able to focus all your love and attention on one baby instead of having to divide it between two. Good luck in the future!
