I think this was done because a) Jamie lynn got pregnant and b) the cast wanted to do different things. One of the main characters Chase left the show even before it ended and came back as a guest for the last episode.

its over they made the chasing Zoey episodes to end a season but they were going to continue. After they filmed that season Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant and they just stopped making them. They didn't make the Chasing Zoey episodes because she was pregnant which most people think. she got pregnant after the episode even aired.
