Anyone with PCOS get pregnant on Metformin alone?

I have PCOS and have been TTC for 21 months. I have been taking Metformin for a month. The cycle right before I started taking it was 77 days. The next was 43, and I could have ovulated on that cycle according to my temperatures. Then I had a 23 days cycle. I asked my doctor about this and she said it could just be the Metformin regulating my cycles. Anyone have any similar experiences with Metformin? Did you get pregnant while on it?

With me, I've had PCOS for year...since early teens. I'm 24 (yesterday, yay!) and I'm 10 weeks preggo now. I was put on the BCP and Metformin both for a long time. Needed the BCP to regulate my periods before I could start TTC. Well, after I got off the pill in OCT right after I got married, well when I ovulated in NOV I got pregnant. The only med I was on was the Metformin 500mg 2 x's a day. I thought it would take a lot longer, but the dr's said since the BCP regulated the period for so long, the Metformin helped me ovulate. So I guess the combo helped me. But it only took me a month and a half to get pregnant once I got off the pill. I'm still on Metformin now to prevent miscarriage (even after fighting with the nurse, she didn't have a clue when it comes to PCOS) so I'm going strong now, baby it healthy and I'm good! My cycles when I was on both was always 25 days. Always the same.

I have PCOS and my doctor prescribed me MetFormin & they are hoping i get pregnant on it. I have read online that a lot of woman take clomid with the metforman also but they didn't prescribe me the clomid

So my question is How many woman got pregnant on JUST MetFormin alone.

I have not but I work with a lady who was.
Her blood sugars were too high and making her eggs hard and impenetrable.
She told me that she took metformin for about 6 months.
Got pregnant and had a miscarriage at about 11 weeks.
Then she didn't give up, her and her husband kept trying
and now they have a beautiful baby girl.

Now I am trying my luck with this.
I hope I can be as lucky as her.

I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and want to have a baby. We have been trying for over 2 years on our own. I recently saw an OB/GYN and she is starting me on Metformin. I really want to have another baby. This will be baby number 2. I am in my mid 20's and want to know what the success rate of Metformin is for someone like me.

I got married at the end of Sept. 08 got off the BCP beginning of Oct. and I got pregnant mid Nov. So it took me what..about a month and a half? The only thing I was on was the metformin...same dose. I'm due on 08/08 so I'm about to pop! We're expecting a girl. I was told I'd have a lot of problems getting pregnant, or if I did...even staying pregnant. I'm really overweight but have had no major problems this pregnancy. No high BP or gestational diabetes. Good luck!

I got pregnant using both metformin and femara. I got preggo the first month.

Yes, my wife did twice within a year after starting metformin (one miscarried). Conceived naturally as her cycles came back to more normal and ovulating more frequently.

This was after 3 years of TTC and not knowing about PCOS. Hope it works for you.

Does Metformin increase your chances of Pregnancy if you have Polycystic ovarian disease?

I am taking Metformin for Polycystic ovarian disease. I have heard that it helps you get pregnant. Has anyone gotten pregnant on Metformin/glucophage that has PCOD?

It does not increase the chance of pregnancy. The medication is designed to shrink the cysts on the ovaries in hopes of regulating your cycle and getting your pancreas to produce the correct amount of insulin to regulate your petuitary gland. Once your hormones and cycles are regulated I'm sure your chances of conceving will greatly incresase.
