I'm interested in hearing some of the tips to get pregnant. The old & silly ones, to what the doc says. Other than monitoring your ovulation, what are tips on getting pregnant?

Answer
I was told that green tea was bad.

For building good womb lining and preparing for conception

This is the list I've seen a few times from a fertility specialist called ZIta West which worked for me (but I didn't follow religiously):

Vitamin E and B1 supplements
pumpkin seeds
almonds
nuts
spinach
seeds
garlic
kidney beans
milk
brown rice
oatmeal
citrus fruits
broccoli
grapes
tomatoes
L-arginine and amino acids (but I can't remember if they may be linked to those doing treatment with own eggs??)
lots of water
rest between 5 pm and 7 pm if possible
lots of sleep
gentle exercise only (HURRAH)
DHA
hotwater bottle on the abdomen
warm baths

HOTWATER BOTTLES AND WARM BATHS ONLY UP TO OVULATION MUST BE AVOIDED AFTER.

Good luck with building up the lining ASAP.

Answer
Hi There! Best of luck for your upcoming IVF... I know the feeling!!! I had my first IVF 4 weeks ago and now I'm pregnant!!!
The cheapest place to get drugs is at Discount or Warehouse Chemist... I don't know where you live, so not sure if you have any in your town...
A few tips:
1. Start taking prenatal supplements now
2. Keep active during your 2ww- don't bed rest, as studies show that relaxed walking is better as it keeps blood circulating in that area
3. Drink a glass of Pineapple juice and a handful of almonds every day, starting 3 days before the transfer- the nutrients inside these are good for cell development
4. Spend at least half an hour a day visualising the embryo/s embedding in your uterus. There is a good visualisation CD specifically for IVF that I used from Zita West (you can find this on the net)
5. Do a google search for Yoga4Fertility with Brenda Strong- there are some good, easy yoga poses on this website that will help during 2ww. You can even buy her DVD if you want to.
6. Keep calm and happy- take some time off work if you can
7. Eat healthy- NO caffeine- not even chocolate, NO alcohol, NO smoking or drugs, NO artificial Sweetner, NO softdrinks or junk food
8. Dont eat ANYTHING that may give you food poisoning or an upset stomach
9. I highly recommend acupuncture. You can start sessions now, or even just do a session just before transfer and one just after.
10. Drink a glass of milk every day
I hope these tips help you! I have taken these from MUCH reading, and they worked for me!!!
Best of luck to everyone out there trying with IVF. God bless! xo
