I have anxiety attacks and I want to get pregnant again, is there anything I need to be concerned about if I have an anxiety attack while pregnant? Anyone out there ever go through this and did you have ways to slow them or even stop them completely when you were pregnant?

Answer
Anxiety attacks are actually on overreaction to some stimulus. There are two types of stimuli. In either case, the first thing to learn is how to relax and manage your reaction, either through meditation or self-hypnosis, both of which can have procedures that you can find on the internet. In one case you see something that makes you anxious, such as occurs in a phobia. In that case, it is important to calm down. Learn how to take slow deep breaths. Tell yourself that you can cope with this situation, but you might need to learn more about it. Seek to learn more about the thing that you fear. This method can actually work in the second situation as well in which you are anxious about some thought, such as bills. In this case, however, I encourage you to do something about it. Break the task down into baby steps and work slowly to solving the problem. In the end you will feel good about yourself because you will have accomplished something. Stop worrying about things you can't do anything about. Understanding can replace anxiety, which is why knowledge is power; procrastination fosters anxiety.

How many blood tests do you get while pregnant?

I want to get pregnant but I am EXTREMELY afraid of needles. I am wondering just how many blood tests will be taken while I am pregnant and where will they be taken from? A friend who just had a baby said they just poked her finger except for when she was dehydrated? Also are there any other needles involved??? Thank you for your time.

Answer
my son has a needle phobia not to be confused with a fear of needles but rather an extremely intense irrational fear. he went through needle phobia therapy with a psychologist and it really helped him now it is no big deal. he still doesn't like needles but he can handle veinus puncture situations with out an extreme incident. when you are pregnant you do get finger pricks but there are times they need more volume to run specific testing. they take that blood from your arm. it isn't frequent but does happen. also when you go in to deliver your baby chances are you will have an IV so that you remain well hydrated and then there is a sight for them to give you meds without sticking you over and over. with the IV it is just one stick and it doesn't hurt for you to get your meds after that. you should discuss this fear with your doctor and a pschologist and see if they can help you. another posibility is to go in a lab or blood donation center sit at a far distance and watch blood draws. then when you have adapted to that distance move a bit closer and continue observations, when you become more comfortable with that move a bit closer just keep getting closer as you decrease the anxiety at different distances until finally you are close to the blood draw.it will get easier and easier. when you are having a blood draw you might try a meditation mind over matter tecnique while not looking at the needle. don't focus on the needle. Good Luck !
