My baby boy coughs but not a lot and doesnt have the "whooping" sound afterward either. but since the commercials have been showing i want to make sure he does not get it. He is 2 months only and will be getting his shots soon. But how much coughing would a baby do if they had pertussis?

Answer
At first pertussis starts off as a small cough. Just a few little mild coughs a day, then the cough gets gradually worse with more fits during each day. The whoop doesn't start until the coughing starts to last for a long period of time. See the "whoop" is the sound of them gasping for air after a really long coughing fit. Another early sign of pertussis is the color of their face. Children will usually turn purple during and after a coughing fit b/c it drops their oxygen level so low.

Pertussis is VERY DANGEROUS for babies under 12 months old. I highly recommend you calling you pediatrician ASAP.

What are some common spellings for the sounds we make?

When writing fiction, we often have to write dialogue for the expressions or sounds that people make, like "ugh" and "yuck". My question is how many can you give that you can think of. Please give a discription for those that aren't obvious.

I would like to know how you would write a yawn if you know it too.
